That's correct about the batteries. And it's not just fast charging, it's fast discharging as well. It's the heat that damages the batteries and reduces their life.

Most anyone can relate to this: When I got my current smartphone in the spring of 2014 it would easily go four days without needing to be charged. Now it needs to be charged at least once a day and maybe more if I'm using it a lot.

So what's the real range of these vehicles once the batteries get a little age on them? They're just using an enlarged version of the exact same chemistry.
