KyOil, question on hydraulics and Wells.

Wouldn't it make sense to reduce pressure by entering a high pressure pay zone with a smaller diameter casing.

It's a matter of simple hydraulics that to increase pressure you run liquid under pressure from a large diameter tubing to a smaller diameter tubing. Does it work this way in reverse in an Oil Well?

If so, then if you suspect you are about to breech a high pressure pay zone, you would want a smaller diameter casing to reduce pressure. If that is the case, and Zion still needed enhanced well control, does that tell you anything in your professional opinion?

In this situation, Zion would be running 5 1/2" to 7" to 9 5/8" to ... 14" casing

Does this have the same implications as it would in normal hydraulic conditions when it comes to oil wells? Running from smaller to larger diameter casing starting with 5 1/2" casing. Will this aid in reducing pressure?

On top of this they still saw the need for enhanced well control.

Thanks in advance.
