j70k: Your suggestion seems logical to me.

I expect an offer from consortiums like a possible Samsung/LG -- or other types of entities that need to get into wireless devices because their current market is already saturated with their products.

Whether and when the BOD goes along with an acquisition, however, is another story. IMO A $60 buyout would be entirely too cheap - assuming some more 3G contracts.

One last thought-Since joint vetures seem to be in vogue, why not LG and Samsung forming a wireless partnership and buying out IDCC to be their R&D arm.They would have immediate cross licensing capabilities with other oem's and who knows what IDCC engineers have in the pipeline for the future.Margins are the key to sucess and cross licensing is they key to margins.Probably makes too much sense to become a reality.
