Form what I recall red yeast extract was the "natural" product from which statin research evolved. To this day when I have patients who hate the evil chemicals of pharmaceuticals and refuse statins I will suggest that they instead use red yeast extract.

So if you say :

I am questioning then why red yeast extract continues to be utilized as a substitute for statins for the treatment and prevention of CAD ?
