My concerns and opinions about some of the most talked about deals on this board: Ford. Enterprise and the Extended Warranty contracts.
1. Ford- Obviously a deal here (or any manufacturer) would skyrocket this stock. But who is the target demographic? Teen drivers, sure. But with Ford’s SYNC 3 and My Key technology can provide the same benefits. MY Key is designed for the teen driver. Among other things, it can be programmed to limit speed, radio volume and mobile device usage when connected to SYNC. Is it for the adult driver? If a driver wants to guarantee they don’t use their phone, they can put on airplane mode or turn it off. Where does the bsafe device and app benefit? ON the flip side, I do see huge potential targeting companies with fleet vehicles using the device to keep track of and protect their drivers and vehicles. A company can require the device be installed and each driver use the app. unfortunately I see a direct to consumer market less appealing.
2. Enterprise – Are we talking about their rental fleet or Enterprise car sales? If the car sales channel, my concern is the same as Ford in the direct to consumer channel. If we are talking about the rental fleet, I see more challenges. First, you are talking about a huge financial investment form Enterprise to install the device in all of their vehicles. Second, and correct me if I am wrong, you need the device and the app for this to work. So would Enterprise require anyone who rents their vehicles to download the app? Don’t think that would happen. I am curious to see how this would work with Enterprise. With the NDA, I guess we have to wait and see.
3. Really the same concern with the direct to consumer market. I do see some potential in a dealership selling to certain consumers. But I am having a hard time believing this is a multi-million dollar opportunity.
Please understand, I AM NOT bashing ONCI. I believe there is a market for this and will hold my shares and will add as I can. I am simply writing this from more of a marketing perspective rather than and investment perspective.
As you can see, this is my first post ever. However, I have been reading and researching as much as my brain can handle.
Thank you for reading, sorry for the long winded post. I would welcome any responses.
Good luck to all.
