A fellow long called me out in a PM because my average price changed based on screenshots they were comparing of my account.

Here’s why:

My core position has not changed which is now 1.58M shares.

Here’s why my average price has changed ever so slightly:

Around my core position, I’ve traded small positions here and there to see how market makers / algorithms respond to small buys / sells here and there. Those “experimental” trades have been for tiny profits and losses here and there. Based on how I have my account set up for tax purposes, (and this changes from trade to trade) those smaller buys and sells impact my overall average price.

Again, my core position is pretty much locked in for a while. Above and beyond that, my smaller buys and sells haven’t had an impact on the action. Why I make those smaller buys and sells is more of a “case study” that gives me a better understanding for the trading dynamics in play here.

I know those smaller trades won’t ever give me the complete picture, and it never will, but it’s a fascinating case study none the less. And I enjoy learning about all the various market dynamics.

Thanks for keeping me honest with your question. I hope my answer satisfies your need to know why my average price changed just a tiny bit.

Keeping in line with my transparency, this is why I’m answering publicly.

Lastly, I did state that I would use a small position to flip back and forth a little. Here’s that post.
