The cynic in me says the insurance company[bean-counter actuary] would rather see you dead immediately[despite losing the insurance premiums you might pay for the next 20 years], rather than bearing the cost of the psck9 for perhaps the next 20 years

Perhaps.....but these days you're much more likely to survive an MI than drop dead from one, so in reality not keeping patients as healthy as possible with any drug that can reduce CV/stroke risk should theoretically save money in the long run. PCSK9's aside, of course, at least until they are proven to prevent MI's instead of just reducing LDL-C to ridiculously low and potentially brain-harmful levels.
