It's also a bit ruthless but that's business sometimes.
If Kim had made MS commercially he would have had to pay UND forever.
But now they have a strain better than what UND has access to. This pushes UNDs ability to produce with another partner into the trash.

Kim can be free to market the silk without restrictions of any kind

Like I said, ruthless. But good for shareholders
