Well said. If one turns to trading after many months or years of being a long holder then it changes the whole risk profile of the investment and concentrates it into trying to time the very hard to time market and the impossible to time transformative PR events into a few weeks rather than the years that the initial investment envisioned.

One would need to measure the risk of missing a very large spike with a very uncertain expectation of a drop. Some as would think the stock is already bottoming and all stock behave in unpredictable ways dropping on good news is always remembered but spiking on no news is very common as well.

Go AVXL! The Rett trial is on deck to be announced with no notice and could set off a rapid spec spike further fueled by a short cover rally. Other unpredictable PRs are on deck as well.
