I am not a climate change skeptic. To the contrary I believe it has a real impact. I am just not convinced it affects, or has affected, the hurricane patterns.

And just to clarify, El Nino (in theory) actually reduces hurricane activity in the atlantic as it is associated with more wind shear which has a muting affect on tropical storms. La Nina results in more hurricanes in the atlantic as warmer waters hit the atlantic and pacific hurricanes are less likely due to wind shear affects. 2016 was a La Nina year so there were more storms, but still no real impact via hurricanes.
