This is not true. I'm under the impression that after 300,000 miles, the battery still has 80% left, and doesn't get much lower than 80%.

And I'm pretty sure you can just use an 80% battery if you'd like.

ANYWAY! The cost saved every year from electric vs gasoline would make up for buying a new battery, so your point is moot.
