Beneficial Ownership of Affiliate status is not determined by blood. For instance, a CEO's sister who lives in China purchases stock in the brother's company in the open market and the CEO lives and works in Indiana has a good argument against her shares considered affiliate shares. However, a live in nanny with no family ties who buys stock in the open market may have the free trading shares purchased on the open market, restricted and subject to Rule 144 resale limitations pursuant to affiliate status.
