"All ideas have merit"

A very respected poster on this site made this statement. While the statement is generous, unfortunately it is not true...

Case in point would be some of my earlier posts on the R-I trial..While I am fairly knowledgeable when it comes to clinical medicine and pathophysiology, I was very ignorant about the design of clinical outcomes trials and made some bold statements based on my ignorance that were wrong...AVll77 was kind enough to educate me to a degree.

Was there merit in my ideas? I would say no. Ideas based on ignorance or faulty logic are impediments to progress or the truth...

IMO everyone on the board tries his very best to contribute useful information and this gives the board its strength.

I read every post and if the post is informative, accurate, and logical I welcome the post..Unfortunately we have posters on the board who are ignorant of certain facts (like I was about CVOTs) and even though they are well meaning, their ideas are incorrect..Someone has to educate them like AVll did me.

We also have posters on the board who have problems with their logic, lack the background, or in some cases might have other issues, who want to be board mavens, but simply make too many mistakes in their posts. Unfortunately some these individuals are incapable of recognizing their mistakes, and repeat them time after time with the idea that enough repetition will change the facts. Though they might have the very best of intentions, the only alternative is to put them on ignore..
