Don't forget about diminishing returns though. The most valid, strongest patents were the ones that made it through. Everyone knows that. The patents that are essential to the foundation of the technology WDDD is claiming infringement on are still here.

So in this type of case, 6 patents can represent a significant portion of the value of a company's patent portfolio.

Would we want to have all of the claims? Of course, but it wasn't realistic to think 100% of their patents were going to be deemed valid and relevant to the case. But the foundation with which the estimates made by many on this board were based on the technology of WDDD's patents that still are alive.

I don't have an estimate for this - my (barely educated) guess would be ATVI lowballed with something like $25-35M to make this go away and they said no.
