I Have No Farm, Not on the Line

It's really not a safe bet to extrapolate success in these particular Alzheimer's animal models to success in humans though, imho.

Just a bad idea to "bet the farm" is all I'm saying.

Understood.

I'm no fool. I don't let my professional understandings of the solid Anavex science cause me to take overly hazardous equity positions on any company. Could Anavex Life Science Corp fail? Sure could. The Next Great Depression could strike next week, too.

I've taken only a small position in AVXL, with discretionary dollars I can afford to loose. I don't expect to, but should the worst happenstance come to pass, I'll sleep well nonetheless (trying not to complicate the continued sufferings of the CNS diseases Anavex should have treated so well).

My AVXL position is not a "bet," some randomized wager. For me, it's an informed investment. I've done my personal due diligence, weighed the chances of success and failure, and sleep well each night.

If Anavex wins, so do I and millions of disease sufferers. If Anavex fails, I lose a few dollars. Missling and the other insiders lose millions.

I respect (and won't try to change) your opinion of the invalidity of animal studies to predict human successes. For me, a rather accomplished biology teacher and biologist, I know the exact parallels of murine (rats and mice) cells and organ systems with humans, specifically the neurological parallels. As shown in the small Australian study in humans, Anavex 2-73 really does cause in humans the same favorable disease outcomes that occurred in the murine studies. It's those animal studies that gave the Rett Foundation and Michael J. Fox Foundation the confidence to expend many hundreds of thousands (Millions?) of dollars to support the up-coming 12-week Anavex human trials on real humans, for Rett Syndrome and Parkinson's Disease.

It's one thing for an anonymous bloke (me) to be expressing confidence in the Anavex science, where I could lose just a few thousand dollars. It's quite another for a private non-profit organization to loose their big Anavex outlays. They don't share your "bet the farm" concerns.
