I think you may have been recalling the "day of record" which equates to reconciliation wherein the transfer agent formally enters unit ownership into the books in order to provide a basis for distributions and the assignment of applicable taxability. Settlement dates figure into this, normally a three day period.
You would not believe how many times I, too, have been upended by such seemingly little things but the government regulates such matters so it's obviously very important. Still, it does get confusing, even for an oldster like myself.
Today I'm on the hunt, using margin if opportunity demands I take action. I'm thinking in terms of a price at or VERY near $12/unit---after backing out the 39 cent distribution pending. I will not be willing to pay more than this under any circumstance.
Given the games played in the name of manipulation for several months running, I don't see a case for anything less happening today. And as I've maintained for a couple of months if not longer, I'm building positions here for next year. Oh, sure, the distributions are fine and I don't see an existential threat there but I'm convinced the really big money will be coming in the form of capital appreciation aka momentum in terms of a rising valuation. Adding things up, NGL & I will have our due.
