It's very interesting, but bottom line, as a currency, I don't think the powers that be (central banks) will ever allow Bitcoin to become a sizable alternative to their own entrenched financial racket. Finance is a mafia-like cartel that has already carved up all the action, and like the Gambinos and Genovese they will protect their interests at all costs. Check out this video -

The other thing about these cryptos is that for the average law abiding person, who needs them? Compared to normal money or credit card transactions, the only appeal crypto would have is that it's supposedly anonymous and not traceable. That's great if you're in an illegal business, but that's a tiny part of the population.

The other thing, if a record of every transaction is held in perpetuity within the 'blockchain', how can that be considered 'anonymous and untraceable'? The blockchain may be effective at preventing digital 'double spending' and in removing the need of a 'trusted 3rd party', but if your transaction is forever stored within the blockchain, that sure doesn't sound anonymous or untraceable to me.

The other big problem is that to use bitcoin, the public has to set up an account with a shady and unsafe bitcoin exchange, or alternately have their own 'wallet'. Some tech geeks might do this, but the average person will just continue using cash or their Visa card.

Bottom line, corporations may adopt blockchain technology for their own corporate use, but average people widely adopting crypto currencies, I just don't see it. Criminals will continue using it, but why would the average person bother? And if enough of them do, the central banks would step in to discredit and crush it.

That said, as a speculation there could be a lot more upside to go since hedge funds and G. Sachs have arrived. So that's how I'd look at it - a tulip bulb type speculation for some near/mid term profits. Just don't be left holding the bag :o)
