Hmmm. I'm not sure of this public ledger thing.
The very essence of bit is it's untracability. I think even the starting process to purchase something with bitcoin is done on Tor mostly.

How would one have a public ledger? I think maybe just the games played on those so called exchanges trading bitcoin have something close to a public ledger. Do you know who's the biggest and pioneer yet again using a new technology like bitcoin is? Pornography and I think second at trying to use bit is online gambling.

Or maybe if you're still trying to mine them. What's interesting is originally I thought part of the concept was to have a finite limit of bitcoin to ever be created, thus some built in value add feature, but oddly that isn't even mentioned any more, and now people are trading billions of bitcoins in contacts? What happened to limited bitcoins?

Nothing adds up.
