I was curious, and looked it up. I'm almost certain that the first few times I saw it, there was no yodeling. Evidently someone thought it was clever to add it because the yodeler was Greek. And lived in Hawaii.

Here's a commercial I don't get:

A little kid is cutting the hair off all his animal toys. He next offers an evil smile, and poises his scissors at the base of his sister's ponytail. His mother, standing nearby, looks horrified.

What does she do? She doesn't say anything; she just grabs her Swiffer. And evidently everybody's happy.
