I see it as the other way. The shares will be valued at $2.50 AFTER you get the split shares per the merger so essentially this should be at $25 pre split.

Yes that's exactly what I tried to say.

The below was my statement, not sure where you see a difference to your statement.

That would mean that they will pay 2.50 after the FS which would be good for anybody who buys shares now.
