Magic, actually two bits is related indirectly to stocks. There were 8 bits in a dollar ( actually, a British Pound). The sterling bar could be broken into 8 bits. So 1/8 th was the smallest amount = 12.5 cents. Aks your parents, or grandparents, if they remember the cheerleaders in High School shouting: " 2 bits, 4 bits, 6 bits, a dollar all for our school stand up and holler!" The stock market ( before it changed to .0001 of a cent) traded with units of 1/8 of a cent.
