AZN's STRENGTH trial makes very little sense.

Well, we do not know the exact reason / idea, but here is some scenario:

1.) R-IT will fail + STRENGHT will fail -> AZN will write-off Epanova (or buy Amarin for not so much)

2.) R-IT will fail + STRENGHT will be a success -> AYN will buy Vascepa (but not for $10+bn ...)

3.) R-IT will be a success + STRENGHT will fail -> AZN will try (or not) to buy Amarin for $10+bn (and write off Epanova)

4.) R-IT will be a success + STRENGHT will be a success -> AYN will buy Vascepa (for $15+bn ...) and will launch Epanova also

STRENGHT will take years (as R-IT) and they have to be prepared for failed R-IT also.
