And who are they trying to fool? If I sell 100 shares that will result in 1000 shares traded, the reality is still that there was only a market for 100 shares. The only difference is that a market maker will make money of the spread between the real buyer and the real seller instead of one of the two parties who will wait to get hit.



This is interesting. It reminds me of this guy who said that traders (middlemen) do NOT add liquidity. Feck N. Eejit he called himself. I met him at the betting exchanges. And he had been betting on horses since he was 7 years old. One of a very few people who make a living from gambling.

He was adament that traders do NOT add liquidity. And he was all alone. I still don't understand what his problem was. Perhaps the traders were feeding off him. Like parasites. He had trouble showing his hand when placing bets, I know that much.

But we have a different problem here. The market makers are not following us. Kind of the opposite. They create their own reality (illusion).
