I checked the clinical study site.
Here are some of the things that would have excluded you from participation in the study: "...a history of hepatic decompensation including any episode of variceal bleeding, ascites not controlled by medication, or overt hepatic encephalopathy...".

These seem to be somewhat evident visually or by behavioral observation, so I'd guess if you develop these things while in the study it may belie that either you're on the placebo or the drug is not being effective in your case. If you don't develop any of these symptoms ... doesn't indicate anything since they may never develop.

Drop out rate, seems to me, only indicates that likely the patient doesn't feel worse than they did when they started the study. I don't see how you could imply anything else.
