Let's say you have 100,000 shares and they do the rs at 1000 to 1, you now have 100 shares at a higher value per share.

It's done to reduce the O/S and create a bigger dollar per share.

Typically it's bad. Some cases good, but usually people bail out like big dogs and the sp plummets. It can also indicate that shares were mismanaged and companies use this tactic like an eject button.
