OT to All .. Thanks for all of the help and great info I received from this board regarding a hip replacement. My original intention was to go to Boston to a minimally invasive surgeon at least two of you recommended. He also got rave reviews from some people I know in the Boston medical community.

After much thinking I've decided to have it done by a local surgeon in the local hospital in Damariscotta Maine where I live. My hip has degraded quite rapidly and he can do the surgery much sooner (October 16th) than the Boston surgeon (early next year). The local guy is a close friend and he has an excellent reputation as well. In the end the thought of being stuck 200 miles from home if something goes wrong was the clincher. (Not to mention the relative ease of my friends smuggling in pain killers in the form of dark brown liquids LOL.)

Anyway, thanks again for all the kind e-mails and PMs and offers of help.
