If he were to admit the plan was irrational non sense from the start it would allow the masses to admit the same. Until people can admit this was a huge mistake how can the public engage in any critical review of their mistake and have any chance of acting sensible?
behind this. At the time, there were many reports (which turned out to be true), that our troops went to Iraq under staffed and without proper equipment for the task. We were already there and the thinking was that our guys were being left out there to dry without proper support. So to bolster their position, it was thought more troops were needed in the
short term.
The only way this makes any sense is if you were to send enough troops to make a difference. If you send to little troops it only endangers more American lifes. IMO 40,000 troops was a joke and only risked more american lifes and gave the Iraqis more easy targets. We were getting our asses kicked but good with simple rocket propelled grenades. Imagine the 40,000 troops arrive and Moscow or Iran supplied the Iraqi's with better arms. Hezbollah just got done whipping Israel with Russian made arms. You dont think the Russians could have played the sme game in Iraq? We would have needed 250,000 to half a million troops and a commitment to fight Iran Moscow and China to make a real difference in Iraq. I would not have supported that. I did not support the entrance to Iraq and I have not supported any type of escalation. However that is what I think a real plan would to "win" or even "hold on" would have sounded like.
That doesn't preclude, at the same time, planning on how to get the troops safely home and creating an exit plan.

I find it rather Amazing that the same people who screamed before the war that we did not have enough troops to "win" in Iraq and that Bush was crazy are now making apologies for Kerry when Kerry does the same exact thing.
I thought Bush was crazy or just trying to make money and we had zero chance of doing anything except creating more loss of life. I think the same of Kerrys plan then ( the election )and now. The way Isee it people who voted for Kerry joined the Bushie camp and did not even realize it. JMO
