And for those who've speculated I'm no longer here (tongue in cheek, I'm sure), I very much am. I'm quite mired in bookkeeping, executive duties, sales, and other activities. As soon as I'm caught up on emails today, all of my energies will be focused on the SI database migration.

Once that project is done, the next project is to change the software on iHub so that it can run on multiple webservers with no need for a load balancer. That means people will have to be able to accept cookies to use the site. It's either that or rewrite everything to pass hidden form fields back and forth, which would be a far larger project.

I'm going to make it as unobtrusive as possible, using cookies for the bare minimum information necessary (essentially just info that identifies the user to the database server) and each page call will work the database server a little harder (apparently it's got some free time) but will unload the webserver a little bit, and, more importantly, make it a no-brainer to add webservers as needed.

I don't want to go the hardware load-balancer route. Too expensive and gives us a single point of failure, no matter how many webservers we end up using.

FWIW, SI is completely sessionless (which describes how I want to make iHub), and it's very easy to just add webservers to it when needed. In fact, its 3 webservers are so darned powerful, I took one of them out of the production loop to use strictly as a development machine.
