Electric has its applications. Local only. It lacks the range and chargability.
I'm all for pure electric if charging wasn't so big of a Burden on power plants..
Remember, the 100Watt bulb was killing the Earth.
Wonder what 300mm all electric cars will do?
I still think battery technology is not here.
Tesla just packages its battery in a different box. Same technology.
I drove 100% electric tugs for Eastern Air in Atlanta. They were the boss. Could pull tremendous loads, fast too. The battery was a 3' cube. Perfect application for all electric. Never had to go deyond a 3 mile radius, and easy battery change out.
Pull in under B concourse and two mechanics would winch the 1 ton battery out and place it on the recharge side then take a fresh battery from the other side. Off we went.
But to drive the family and my 18' center console boat from Atlanta to The Gulf in an all electric Tesla truck? I'd love too!! Hell yes......but, I'm not going to stretch out a 3000' foot extension cord in Aldalusua Alabama, no whereville, to share an electric socket with a Coke machine. Then wait for 6 hours.
The smart car is great in around small towns for errands. I'd rather see our mass vehicles powered by natural gas. And then again, if OPEC goes over $50 a barrel, they eat the oil. Those $100+ barrel days are gone. If anything oil is going under $30 a barrel give American oil time.
Cheap oil is here to stay. It sucks, but gas engines are so efficient now. Range keeps going up and the infrastructure is in place.
Mr Market already had its day with the EV1. I put Tesla up there with the snowflake iPhone mentality.
But the political winds have changed. American taxpayers are not going to be paying $100Bb for 3rd Eorld countries to have the luxury of all electric now.
And why should America pay for that?
America does enough for the World.
We just need a better charging battery. That Dol% thing is a joke. Conceived on the same political wind.
That wind is gone.
