I didn't understand the Anavex Cancer connection, but I just ran onto this on another board and it gives me a clue.

The Warburg hypothesis (/'v??rb??rg/), sometimes known as the Warburg theory of cancer, postulates that the driver of tumorigenesis is an insufficient cellular respiration caused by insult to mitochondria
