One time I was flying back from Dallas on a 727 with the engine on the tail.

We were sitting in the back in the smoking section and all of a sudden we couldn't hear the engine.

The pilot came on and said we'd have a delay getting into Logan due to headwinds.

I rang for the stewardess and said I can understand the pilot shut down the engine but really the winds move west to east.

She said yeah but we don't want to alarm the passengers that we are only running on 2 engines.

I told her just bring us another drink and it will be our secret.
