I don't care how young sanchez is (and might be a 2018 thing with holiday here, I admit that (and said that in a previous post), and need a full spring training to get ready at 1b), a catcher is a position that will (a) keep a guy out of the lineup 20-25% of the games (even if he is not injured), (b) will possibly get him hurt and possibly wear him down over the course of the season. So far to me the guys we need to protect are didi, castro, sanchez and judge, that is your core on the position side right now for me. I don't want any of them getting beat up in my opinion.

You have to understand the answer could be to DH Sanchez, maybe he can't play 1b, once again that is why I said longer-term in my plans I would like 1b open, because keeping sanchez at cather makes no sense to mew, if he is gonna be the offensive player I think he will be, we don't want him out of the lineup 20-25% of the games, he is fine defensively, but he is no bench back there to warrant that sacrifice in my opinion. Plus I like romine defensively, and think he can hit enough.

as for bird, I'm not judging him on 60 ab, In fact if you go back on the post before, I said I expect him to turn it around. so first I would start him at 1b, I just took issue with the fact that you assume he would be better than carter offensively how do we know that, he is unproven and what we have seen of him is he is injury prone, and hitting 100 this year. he is a coin toss right now, the odds of him being a successful prospect for me have went down some based on what we seen so far, not much, and he could still be great, and as I said I expect him to bounce back. I'm just saying I like romine, and I don't want sanchez at cather you have to understand I lived through the piazza era, that means your best player is out of the lineup 1/4 or 1/5 games I could do without that so next year I would look for 1b if bird fails, give him this year, I don't think my post was clear, but I did say long-term like 2018 and beyond I'm either moving sanchez to 1b or dh in my opinion, because I need him healthy and his bat in the lineup. I don't see why anyone would disagree with that in my opinion.

---All above is just my humble opinion.
And I could always be wrong.
And as always do your own DD.---
