Have been thinking about this.
http://micgadget.com/38452/no-iphone-edition-or-no-5-8-inch-iphone-8/

After all the confusing/contradicting rumours about the next iPhone the general consensus was;

- 's' upgrades to the iPhone 7 with LCD, Wireless charging, metal body.
- iPhone Edition with OLED, wireless charging, glass sandwich.
- predictions/Hope the 7s would use Metallic Glass to allow wireless charging,
- glass sandwich would use a BMG subframe and possibly extruded BMG Band.

Previously Josh posted that the iPhone Edition will likely be in 2018, supported by the above rumour link. And now rumours of 2 new OLED sizes for 2018,

If it releases the iPhone Edition this year, Apple would end up having 3 OLED iPhones in 2018 (5.28,5.8,6.46) Doesn't make sense for Apple to release 3 iPhone models with 2 different display panels, 2 different designs, 3 different screen sizes that are too close in size to justify the middle size and a headache for developers. And it would affect the sale of the LCD iPhones since many would want the new OLED version.

So Apple killed off this years OLED iPhone, or maybe it was never meant for release and was always a prototype for the next design change after the 's' upgrade. Its been claimed several times that the OLED phone has advanced tech that needed time to develop. Maybe thats why it has been seen so early in its development phase.

So 2 LCD iPhone 's' upgrades this year,
and 2 new OLED iPhones Designs next year.

That makes so much more sense, nice and simple doesn't confuse consumers or developers. Does not fragment Apple's line up, Does not kill the demand for LCD 7s models.

If this years iPhone does have wireless charging and the same metal design form, then it must use BMG.
