In the years 2010- 2015 Apple outright bought small companies at the rate of 15 to 20 a year. Some years more, some years less. Those acquired firms were never heard of again.

Apple hasn't been buying a lot manufacturing companies yet. So maybe, just maybe they are going to do so now? I was thinking about how so many jumped to the conclusion that we were the "One", but when you think about it Apple is going to invest in MFG. That means they are more likely to invest in something which benefits them. That narrows the companies down a lot. We are at least a potential. Add in how much they have invested in the technology. Why not expand their horizons? I've read that their money maker is the iPhone. Thats a pretty narrow product range. So maybe they want to evolve into something new through vertical integration? I guess we will find out.
