Saas is the future and there is nothing wrong with gathering results this way.

Look at Siri on the IPhone. When you ask a qustion the answers are not coming from your phone or device directly. Siri has to contact a database for the answer. Look at the success Apple, google and Amazon have had with this type of technology.
