...I guess they are harmless but I can't bring myself to pick up a praying mantis...
Last fall I drove up the road to the top of Pilot Mountain State Park. It's a curvy road and the trees come over top of you most of the way. The trees were turning and it looked like a gold neon light was on...simply breathtaking. Just a few miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway is Stone Mountain State Park (NC not Ga) and last time I went I counted over 50 deer! There is a 200' waterfall and a sheer rock face that's probably 1000" or so. Okay I'll quit.
