LOL. The problem is a comprehension issue on your part.

I'm going to give up on this topic given you can't seem to comprehend that there are more than one type of chaperones and that the sigma-1 receptor is not a protein chaperone. Therefore, it does not chaperone proteins.

Protein chaperones chaperone proteins in order to try to prevent misfolding.

And that IS a very critical distinction.


Well I think your reference (among many others) make it clear that s1R unequivocally DOES chaperone proteins. The distinction you are trying to make falls apart on this and because:
1. S1R is a protein
2. Its chaperone function is mediated by protein-protein interaction and translocation (reference provided upon request).

I do find it a bit amusing that I'm the one taking the AVXL line on an issue.
