for what it's worth...
I can see "Mount Pilot" (as referenced on the Andy Griffith Show) from my backyard. I live about 30 miles from Mount Airy where Andy G was born and raised. The guy who played Goober has played charity golf tournys nearby...Lot's of local artists draw pics of the characters and Mount Airy has a Snappys Lunch and Floyd's Barber Shop. We have a local man who does a good impersonation of Barney. He has the car and uniform. Andy G has a bit of an aversion for this area though...if anyone cares to hear the story I'll write it.
