Investment in penny stock is definitely "betting".

Betting or drinking too much? I prefer drinking.

The crazy thing about a penny stock is you end up doing so much "due diligence" on it that if you compute the gain (unrealized at this point), versus the return, you realize you're currently making 10 cents an hour (also unrealized, of course).
