The daily numbers have nothing to do with short positions. Try asking FINRA who puts out the numbers instead of the liars and fools who tout them as short positions. When a market maker matches a trade they sell to the buyer and then buy from the seller, trades done like this are marked short in those numbers as the first leg is what is marked, and it is short. Better to actually understand the market than rely on criminals who lie to you.
