bulldzr: you stated

the share price to rise in the days leading up to the call, and then the selloff begins as soon as Merritt starts talking

I. think the share price begins its decline
1. after earnings are announced,
2. when the street analyzes them and excludes any extraordinary items, bringing it down to the 'actual recurring earnings'
3. comparing it to the streets projections (albeit over-projections by the street).
4. then, it gets worse when Merritt and cohorts try to explain earnings.

I think that a decline could be averted IF:
1. There are no extraordinary items (audit revenues);
2. Actual results beet the companies projections; and
3. Actual earnings must beat street expectations on the high end.

The keys are 'recurring revenues' and 'beat the street's expectations'.
