This is called a tautology. And I mean that in the rhetorical, Greek sense.

AF and his short peers are really good with this kind of reasoning.

They make an allegation, which starts the fall in price. Then they say that the fall in price validates that the allegation happened. And the process, they hope, becomes self-reinforcing.
