More about the slowdown at the FDA. Scott Gottlieb's confirmation hearing by the Senate Committee will not resume until the Senate returns from recess on the 24th. In the meantime the Acting FDA Commissioner is Stephen M Ostroff who is the Deputy FDA Commissioner for Food. What I have read is that there is not much being accomplished pending confirmation of the new Commissioner.

Delays in trial approval are a real possibility because of Gottlieb's statements on possible streamlining of the process. See below:
