Apple Will Test Self-Driving Software In California In Busy Autonomous Week

Apple (AAPL) has received permission from the California Department of Motor Vehicles to test self-driving cars on public roads in the state, capping a busy week for autonomous vehicle news.

Apple, part of the Dow Jones industrial average, has received the state's permit for self-driving tests involving three Toyota (TM)-owned Lexus RX450h SUVs and six drivers. General Motors, Ford, Alphabet (GOOGL) unit Google, Tesla (TSLA), Uber and Nvidia (NVDA) are among the automakers and tech firms that have received similar clearance in California.

Apple has never publicly acknowledged its Project Titan self-driving efforts, which reportedly have shifted from an Apple-made car to Apple self-driving software.
