shortterm, bad economic news is interpreted as good because some people think it will keep the Fed from raising interest rates in the future. What's ironic is that the bad economic news, especially weak consumer numbers, have not inhibited inflation. It's still rising and the Fed, as it indicated the other day in its "minutes," may still have to raise rates at some future point. Of course, the talking heads glossed over this fact and suggested future "pauses." This played into the hands of the market manipulators, who kicked in with buying yesterday right before noon and scroomed the bears. 2X
