"if AVXL addresses cell homeostatic and the connectors are already deteriorated - will it restore the old state? That may mean that such drugs will stop deterioration and not improve the condition ..."

Most Alzheimer's patients suffer from having dead or dying neurons and second, from neurons which are not working very well.

If it is possible to restore cell homeostasis, then this would improve the part of Alzheimer's that is a result of neurons not working very well which would also allow people to more easily learn and form new memories. It could also allow some regeneration of old memory but not all. Therefore, if someone with moderate Alzheimer's disease were given a "cure" for Alzheimer's disease, their impairment might become similar to someone with mild Alzheimer's disease except that they are better able to form new memories. But some damage will be permanent.

I suspect that no Alzheimer's treatment being tested anywhere is the complete cure. I think Anavex2-73 might be a good start. Someone who is a good responder who takes Anavex2-73 and is not too damaged already by the disease could recover some function similar to the good responders in the A2-73 trial.
