Back in the day when I had a fireplace or wood burning stove in my home I loved that hard wood. If you have a good fire going in the evening and through some of the hard woods (usually fruit trees) on and got it stated well, it would build up some good coals for the night. Just throw some fresh starter wood on the coals in the morning and by time I got out of the shower the place was toasty warm again.

I truly miss those fireplaces, same for the wood stove. Back in the day I actually liked chopping wood; hard work, but IO really liked it. My stepfather and I used to get about three loads a year; usually two fir loads and then some hard wood which we collected throughout the year, cherry was a favorite.
