I split it with an axe, splitting wedges and a sledge hammer. Even with all this gear, the stuff is so hard that I have to rip cut the large trunk logs with my chain saw about 75% of the way through... even then, it's difficult to get the last 25% to split. The heart wood is very pretty... dark like walnut but with a greenish tint like an olive.

I have one more branch with about ten bundles up foliage up high. Then I'll take the forked trunk down about 8 feet at a time. The tree was about 50 feet high with a 50 foot spread.
