I’m throwing in the towel for the Red Sox in 2006.
I assume the Yankees won’t fold, but until recently I had held out some hope that Chicago would. But now, the Sox are about 5 games behind both Chi and Minn for the wildcard slot, and it’s highly unlikely that both of them will go into a sustained slump in September.
It’s hard to point to one reason for the Sox’s woes, but perhaps there’s a reason that Jason Varitek is the team captain.
