Conversely, market makers may put in large “phantom orders” – never intended for execution – to create psychological resistance levels." Yes they play games but I would love to see what would happen if someone actually placed an order for that 500,000. They may fill it and take the loss or if they are not concerned with their reputation they can "back away" from the trade. Whould like to see which happens...!!!
